The Basel Sinfonietta comments on the current attack on Ukraine
The Basel Sinfonietta, an orchestra with musicians from many nations, is committed to peace, understanding and cultural exchange between all peoples.
Therefore, we categorically reject any military aggression. We currently demand an immediate end to Russia's brutal and utterly unjustifiable attack on Ukraine, as well as the violence against civilians and their displacement.
We express our solidarity with all people who have fallen victim to this war in so many ways and who suffer violence and war crimes, especially civilian victims and all refugees. We also express our solidarity with all people in Russia, Europe, and worldwide who, like us, protest against this war, as well as with all genuine efforts for peace.
With our artistic abilities, we want to try to build bridges between all nations and create common ground in order to prevent hatred, mistrust and rejection between peoples and to promote humanity, trust and togetherness.
