Titus Engel awarded the Swiss Music Prize 2025
The Basel Sinfonietta is delighted that its Principal Conductor Titus Engel has been awarded the Swiss Music Prize 2025. He is one of eleven prize winners honored by the Federal Office of Culture for their outstanding musical achievements.
The jury praised Titus Engel as a "visionary conductor who acts as a bridge-builder between tradition and the avant-garde. With his dedication to the music and his precise, sensitive, and energetic conducting, he speaks to the musicians as well as the audience."
The award ceremony will take place on September 11, 2025, in the Lucerne Hall of the KKL Luzern. We have enjoyed a close and fruitful collaboration with Titus Engel for many years.
In the recently concluded 2024/25 season, we celebrated joint successes, such as the guest performance at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, which was praised by the press and public, and "The 7th Heaven – a football oratorio for Basel" by Moritz Eggert, staged in cooperation with the Theater Basel.
We warmly congratulate Titus Engel on this well-deserved award!
