Much that is new, exciting, unheard-of and versatile is on our program for the 2023/24 season. The 6 subscription concerts present 16 premieres and world premieres and a total of 18 works on the pulse of time.
Not only do we venture to musical frontiers, but we are also on the road again internationally in the coming season, for example at the Ruhrtriennale Festival der Künste in Bochum and the avant-garde music festival «Klang» in Copenhagen.
Our 1st subscription concert on October 1 at the Pfaffenholz Sports Center is also the inaugural concert of our new Principal Conductor Titus Engel.
New in our subscription season are five programmatic lines that run as a common thread through the concerts: Anyone who has already experienced the Basel Sinfonietta live knows that it is always experimenting with new concert formats. As a result, every performance is MORE THAN A CONCERT. It is also committed to ♀-EMPOWERMENT by giving the works of female composers, who are still structurally underrepresented in the concert world, the space they deserve. The Basel Sinfonietta also broadens the view of the world – LOOKING EAST / WEST / SOUTH / NORTH – and overcomes musical and cultural borders: CROSSING BORDERS. At the same time she does not forget CONTEMPORARY CLASSICS.
