Surrounded by vintage charm and automotive history, this unique performance venue forms the hub of a concert program exploring modes of transportation and their soundscapes. Under the direction of Principal Conductor Titus Engel, the Basel Sinfonietta will perform, as one of the highlights, a new work by composer Gemma Ragués Pujol, which will bring the museum itself to life with sound. The program also includes two solo pieces performed by renowned soloists Sarah Maria Sun (soprano) and Simone Zgraggen (violin).

Music, painting, and literature have always inspired one another. A poem by Dorothy Molloy evokes memories of sounds for Clara Iannotta, while Helena Cánovas Parés translates the physicality of a quote from a novel by the Catalan author Mercè Rodoreda into music. Johannes Schöllhorn, in turn, is inspired by Domenico Tiepolo's painting cycle "Divertimento per li regazzi" to create a large-scale musical sequence of images. Sharp and vibrant moments meet melancholic, morbid, and obsessive soundscapes, simultaneously revealing connections between our present and a far from idyllic past.
