The Spanish conductor will lead the second subscription concert of the Basel Sinfonietta
We are looking forward to collaborating with the Spanish conductor Pablo Rus Broseta as part of our 2nd subscription concert entitled «In the Sound Laboratory of the Andes» on October 2nd at the Stadtcasino Basel.
Pablo Rus Broseta studied composition and saxophone at the conservatory in his hometown of Valencia and completed further studies in conducting in Lyon, at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and at the Berlin University of the Arts. He received valuable guidance from Bernard Haitink, Pierre Boulez, David Zinman, Kurt Masur, and Steven Sloane.
In the 2009/10 season, he was assistant conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège, in 2010 of the Netherlands National Opera Academy, and from 2010 to 2013 of the Jove Orquestra de la Generalitat Valenciana, which he has led as artistic director since 2017. In 2011, he founded the artists' collective Grup Mixtour, which he still leads. From 2015 to 2019, he was first assistant and then assistant conductor of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.
Pablo Rus Broseta regularly collaborates with orchestras such as the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfónica de Porto or the Ensemble Modern and performs at festivals such as Klangspuren Schwaz, the Festival Musica in Strasbourg, the Donaueschingen Music Days or the Witten Days for New Chamber Music.
His repertoire ranges from Rameau to John Adams, with a particular focus on the symphonic repertoire. In recent years he has had the opportunity to work closely with composers such as Wolfgang Rihm, Hans Zender, Thomas Adès, Magnus Lindberg, Francisco Coll and Pierre Boulez.
