Rehearsals have begun for our second subscription concert with the chamber ensemble of the Orquesta Experimental de Instrumentos Nativos (OEIN)
The seven soloists of the Bolivian Orquesta Experimental de Instrumentos Nativos (OEIN) from La Paz have arrived in Basel and are now rehearsing with the Basel Sinfonietta at the Don Bosco Music and Cultural Centre in Basel.
Under the direction of Spanish conductor Pablo Rus Broseta, rehearsals have begun for our second subscription concert. Together with the seven soloists of the OEIN, the Basel Sinfonietta is rehearsing two new works for instrumental ensemble from the Andean highlands and orchestra by Swiss composer Martin Jaggi (born 1978) and Bolivian composer Carlos Gutiérrez Quiroga (born 1982).
In Saturday's concert at the Stadtcasino Basel, entitled "In the Sound Laboratory of the Andes", the Basel Sinfonietta and the OEIN Chamber Ensemble will first perform as separate ensembles before presenting themselves together in the second part of the concert.
In addition to the two world premieres, the second subscription concert of the Basel Sinfonietta will feature three Swiss premieres by the Colombian composer James Diaz (*1990), the Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz (*1964) and the Uruguayan composer Camilo Rodríguez (*1977).
