Our program for the 2023/24 season features a wealth of new, exciting, unheard-of, and diverse works. The six subscription concerts present 16 premieres and world premieres, and a total of 18 contemporary pieces.
But we are not only venturing into musical boundaries, but will also be touring internationally again in the coming season, for example at the Ruhrtriennale Arts Festival in Bochum and the avant-garde music festival «Klang» in Copenhagen.
Our first subscription concert on October 1st at the Pfaffenholz Sports Centre is also the inaugural concert of our new Principal Conductor Titus Engel.

New to our subscription season are five programmatic themes that run like a common thread through the concerts: Anyone who has already experienced the Basel Sinfonietta live knows that it constantly experiments with new concert formats. This makes every performance MORE THAN A CONCERT. Furthermore, it is committed to women's empowermentby giving the works of female composers, who are still structurally underrepresented in the concert world, the space they deserve. The Basel Sinfonietta also broadens its perspective – LOOKING EAST / WEST / SOUTH / NORTH – and transcends musical and cultural boundaries: CROSSING BORDERS. At the same time, it doesn't forget contemporary classics .
