Dieter Dieter Ammann's art is reminiscent of a venturer in search of extremes. From meticulous nocturnal notation with pencil and eraser to the tempestuous performance of his works in the concert hall – his journey is a great adventure. His works – complex scores rich with inner life – practically bursting with pulsating energy and sonic imagination, conveying a thoroughly physical listening experience that is rarely found in new music. On the occasion of his 60th birthday, the Basel Sinfonietta honours this Swiss composer with a concert evening devoted to his meticulously notated music, which oscillates between the utmost differentiation and raw vitality.
In addition, Dieter Ammann's influence as a composition educator will be honoured with the premieres of two orchestral pieces by his students Aregnaz Martorsyan and Alsu Nigmatullina.
